Down, Down! Early Development
Down, Down! came about after working on some Tetris related projects at Uni, with the simple idea of constant obstacles and simple yet challenging gameplay mechanics.
Players simply have to keep falling down through the levels which randomly are created with different openings.
The second iteration had no openings in the level but instead let the player change their colour to match the levels colours which allowed them to fall through that colour. This then changed back to the opening version because players seemed to just lock into one colour and constantly use that one and not change.
The third iteration has done away with the colours to try and add a theme and now has mechanics for spawn rate and speed increases. Sadly I’m still struggling with the issue of missing opening in each level causing a block for the player.
